Biography

Stanislav Rakús was born 20 January 1940 in Šúrovce. After secondary school in Trnava he studied Slovak and Russian at the Pedagogical Faculty in Prešov. From 1963 to 1964 he was a teacher at an apprentice school in Trebišov, from 1964 to 1969 he taught evening classes at a secondary economic school. Since 69 he has taught the history of Slovak literature at the Philosophical Faculty at the University of Pavel Jozef Šafarik in Prešov (later Prešov University where he is now Professor Emeritus). From 1966 to 1968 he was the external dramaturgist for the State Puppet Theatre in Košice. He lives in Košice.
