Tóth Krisztina: Dreammill (Álommalom in English)

Portre of Tóth Krisztina

Álommalom (Hungarian)

Ki forgat engem a fejében,
engem, a képzelet szülöttjét?
Ki gondol engem át az álom
Sohasem látott túlfelére?

Meghánynak-vetnek és kiköpnek,
megvetnek majd, kihánynak.
Vetetlen ágyban forgolódva
magad kiköpött mása, alszol.

Kiforgat majd, aki kigondolt,
tűzgyüjteményed elkobozza:
magadtól fordulsz ki magadból,
mintha a képzelet vetélne.

Aludjék benned az, ki forgat,
hátha alvásod elfogadja
a hosszű meddő kacagás, és
magakellető sírás atyja.

Dreammill (English)

Who's turning me round inside his head,
me, imagining's born and bred?
Who's thinking me past the farther shore
of sleep, where none have been before?

They churn you round and out you're spat,
then spurn you, throw you up as tat.
The bed's unmade, you turn and toss,
your spit and image sleeps alone, dross.

He'll turn you inside out, the guy
who thought you up, and grab your fire:
your self by itself turned inside out,
as if your mind was to abort.

Your churner-round should rest within you,
in case your sleep should please that him who,
taking charge of lengthy sterile laughter,
is of ostentatious tears the father.
