Sebestyén Péter: Haikuk Musashi Úr arany-éveiből

Portre of Sebestyén Péter

Haikuk Musashi Úr arany-éveiből (Hungarian)

Délnek vágtatok:
tavaszba-nyílt rétek, így
illik elbukni!

Patak zúgóján
pisztráng röppen; ezer szín
csillant ezer fényt.

Úszom a tóban:
bokor rejtekén lányok
lesnek. Jövök már!

A hajnalt vártam.
Telhetetlen. Elrabolt
minden csillagot.

A sas elhagyta
bércét. Míg párjára lel,
élhettek tovább.

Elinaltak mind.
A kardom se volt nálam:
csak toppantottam.

Kerítés óvja
házad; téged a falak;
csúfság a sorsod.

Vajon kié ez
a végső szél; létét most
ki átkozza el?

Hiába hajszolsz
halálba három lovat:
a negyedik vagy.

Haiku from Lord Musashi's golden years (English)

I gallop southward:
spring-opened fields, this is the
proper way to fall!

A trout flies through a
brook's rapids. Myriads of hues
flash myriad lustres.

I swim in the lake:
concealed in a bush are girls,
they peep.  I'm coming!

I waited for dawn.
It's voracious. It has robbed
us of the starlight.

The falcon has left
its crag. Till it finds its mate,
you may keep living.

They have all bolted.
Didn't even carry my sword:
I just stamped my foot.

The fencing protects
your house; the walls protect you;
disgrace is your fate.

I wonder whose is
this final wind; who now will
curse his existence?

In vain you're lashing
three horses until they drop
‘tis fourth you'll still be.
