Kívánság (Hungarian)

Egy másik asszonnyal, aki nincs
(és minden asszonyban ott van),
aki nem te vagy, aki nincs,
aki egy mosolyodban,
mozdulatodban, benned is
olykor villanni látszik:
akit nem én, egy másik
férfi ismerhet benned, és
aki másoknak szenvedés, –
azzal a másik asszonnyal,
azzal ismertess meg, –
akkor elhiszem: úgy szeretsz,
ahogy még nem szeretek.

Wish (English)

With another woman, who is not
(and who’s there in every woman),
who’s not you, who is not,
who in a smile of yours,
in a gesture seems to
flash up in you as well:
who’s familiar in you to
another man, not me, and
who’s woe for others, -
that other woman,
please, let me come to know her, -
then I’ll believe: you love me
the way I can’t yet love.
