Szegényember balladája (Hungarian)

- Szegényember, hogy adod a bölcsőt?

- Csöpp a gyerek, hogy adnám a bölcsőt?

- Király vagyok, bírok nagy erővel,

Ha nem adod, elveszem erővel.

Szegényember, hejh, csak egyet szólna -

A király már katonákért szólna.

De a bölcsőt a tóba hajítja,

Csöpp gyerekét utána hajítja.

Szegényember sír-rí a börtönben.

Szegényember nevet a börtönben.

Nincs a gyerek már a rossz világban,

Jobb sora lesz, hajh, vizi-világban!

Ballad of a poor man (English)

- Poor man, tell me, how much is that cradle?

- Child is tiny, I can't sell the cradle.

- I am the king and I have forceful arms

So, give or I will take by force of arms.

If the poor man uttered but a sentence -

King's men would have carried out his sentence.

Grabs the cradle, in the lake he hurls it,

Grabs his child and after it he hurls it.

Poor man's crying mightily in prison.

Poor man's laughing heartily in prison.

For his child's no longer in this bad world,

Better off he will be in the lake-world!
