Földes Lívia: I Woke Up In God’s Palm (Isten tenyerén ébredtem in English)

Portre of N. Ullrich Katalin

Back to the translator

Isten tenyerén ébredtem (Hungarian)

Isten tenyerén ébredtem, s lenéztem a Földre,
Hófehér csúcsokra, kopár legelőkre.
Kanyargós folyók tükrében láttam kelni a Napot,
Sugaraiban álmos hajnal mosakodott.
Láttam az óceánt gyermekként ragyogni
Sirályokat felette felhőkkel táncolni,
Láttam a békét az emberek szívében,
Láttam az erdőket fürödni a fényben.
Láttam sok-sok mosolyt és láttam a reményt,
Láttam az embert, és láttam a zenét,
Láttam a földet szeretetben élni,
Láttam a csöndet a széllel zenélni.
Láttam Istent amerre csak néztem,
Miközben éppen az Ő tenyerében ültem,
S az Ő hangján szólt hozzám a szél,
Mint anya, ki gyermekének mesél,
Millió apró tükörben láthatod magadat,
Hisz olyannak látod a világot, amilyen Te vagy!

I Woke Up In God’s Palm (English)

I woke up in God’s palm and looked down on the Earth,
at the snow-white high summits and barren pastures.
I saw the Sun rise reflected in winding rivers,
in its rays the drowsy dawn bathed with glimmers.
I saw the ocean shining bright like a child,
seagulls dancing with the clouds above them high,
I saw peace in the depth of all people’s hearts,
I saw forests being washed in the bright light.
I saw then plenty of smiles, and I saw hope,
I saw people around and I saw as music flowed,
I saw the whole earth existing in pure love,
I saw silence making music with the wind above.
I saw God wherever I was only looking,
while in His open palm I was indeed sitting,
and the wind talked to me in His voice, so mild,
like mother telling a fairy tale to her child,
you can see yourself in millions of tiny mirrors afar,
for you will see the world to be the same as You are!
