Biography

László Darvasi was born in Törökszentmiklós in eastern Hungary in 1962, and graduated from the University of Szeged. The editor of a Szeged daily since 1989 and also a co-editor of the only national literary weekly, Élet és Irodalom, Darvasi’s literary journalism has had a lasting impact on his short fiction. He created an alter ego and began writing his short, light, bottom-of-the-page pieces as Ernő Szív (szív means ‘heart’ in Hungarian). Although he began as a poet in 1991, he now publishes mainly short-stories.
