Sebestyén Péter: Haiku from Lord Musashi's restless afternoon (Haikuk Musashi Úr nyugtalan délutánján in English)

Portre of Sebestyén Péter

Haikuk Musashi Úr nyugtalan délutánján (Hungarian)

Nézem a párát,
a ködös hegytetőt és
így őszülök meg.

A part, a nagy szél,
ami homokba temet:
ne éljek tovább.

Nem kell kívánnod
esők nyugalmát sem; hisz
énekel a szél.

Láthatatlan Hold,
fel-nem-kelő Nap; éjfél,
fehér enyészet.

Fordulj meg; lassan.
A nap nem tudja, hogy
süti a tarkód.

Szörnyű Musashi!
Velem ijesztegették
a gyerekeket…

Lovam sörényét
fésülöm; hideg avaron
borzong a szellő.

Mi van még? Kard és
Lótusz; azután még egy
sötét szivárvány.

Haiku from Lord Musashi's restless afternoon (English)

I look at the haze,
the mist on the mountain-top
and thus, I'm greying.

The shore, the great wind
which buries one in the sand:
I should not live on.

You must not wish for
the stillness of rain even,
for the winds do sing.

Invisible moon,
sun's not arising; midnight,
a whiteish decay.

Turn, slowly; the sun
is unaware it's burning
the nape of your neck.

Dreadful Musashi!
It was with me that they kept
scaring the children…

I comb the mane of
my horse, over cold dead leaves
a shudder of breeze.

What else remains? Sword,
and lotus, and a sombre
rainbow thereafter.
