Öreg szerelmesek (Hungarian)

Az idő; a titkos ügynök már rég beépült szervezetünkbe;
házasságunk annyi veszélyen átcsempészett mikrofilmjén
meszes gerincünk röntgenképét látni.
Húsz év - sok is egy átlagos, értelmiségi párnak.
Van bennünk valami vérlázító:
Rómeó és Júlia egy újabb reformnemzedékből,
őszen, mérsékelt súlyfölösleggel -
inkább egy burleszkfilmbe illenénk,
mint a szűk világváros zsúfolt kriptájába,
ahol most már csak egymás szemébe nyílik a titkos alagút …
imbolygó fény … a hatvanas évek …
a testünk éppolyan átlátszó, mint a tervünk,
melyet kínjában ötlött ki a méregkeverő, kontár barát …
A fiatalság lebukik, ha túl soká él; ez a sorsa.
Kispárnánkat a fejünk alá gyűrve lassan süllyedünk.
De ha gyülemlő ráncaink harisnyaálarcát lehúznánk,
előragyogna mögüle az ifjú koponya,
s kézfejünkön az őrült tetoválás: VAN FÖLTÁMADÁS!

Old Lovers (English)

Time, the secret agent has long become part and parcel of our bodies,
on microchips of our marriage smuggled through so many dangers
the X-ray image of our sclerotic backbones can be seen.
Twenty years – far too many for an ordinary intellectual couple.
There’s something outrageous about us:
Romeo and Juliet from another reform-generation
with white hair, a little overweight -
we would rather fit in a burlesque movie
than here in the confined city in a packed crypt
where now the secret passage opens already only into each other’s eyes…
flickering light… the sixties…
our bodies are as transparent as our plot devised
in agony by the botching, poison-maker priest…
Youth gets nabbed if it lives too long – it can’t be avoided.
We’re slowly sinking with our pillows crumpled under our heads.
But if we pulled off the stocking-mask of our accumulating wrinkles,
the young skull would shine out from under it,
and on our hands the crazy tattoo: THERE IS RESURRECTION!
