Szép Ernő: Vers cím nélkül

Portre of Szép Ernő

Vers cím nélkül (Hungarian)

Mint magányos lovast az este,

Úgy ér a bánat engemet,

Gyereksírás jön fel szívemből,

Könnyeim kis csengői csengenek.

Apám után szeretnék futni,

Ki a városba vezetett

S míg a boltok közt bámészkodtam,

Egyszer elengedte a kezemet.

Untitled poem (English)

As nightfall descends on the rider,

So does the mood that grief can bring,

Cry of a child wells up from my heart

And tiny bells of teardrops start to ring.

I'd so like to run after father,

Who led me to town - it was grand -

And whilst I had gaped at shop windows,

At one time let go of my hand.
