Petri György: A lírai én meg amit zárójelbe tett

Portre of Petri György

A lírai én meg amit zárójelbe tett (Hungarian)

Az újságokból már csak az
időjárásjelentést.
(A sporthíreket régebben sem.)

Egy pohár vizet kér.
Mindennek már csak
utóíze van.
Az se legyen.

Tükörbe néz,
olyan szögből mégpedig,
ahonnan ő nem látszik.

Okafogytáni lét.
Nem vet véget neki
– hisz vége van.

(A tükörben egyébként
másfél törülköző, egy nikkelezett fémrúd,
s egy boyler széle látszik.

A szomszéd szobában
egy nő számítógépel,
akit szeret.

Este valószínűleg,
vagy inkább majdnem biztos:
még elmennek valahová,
beülnek egy (vagy több) valamire

ő meg ő,
vagyis ők.
Egy nő. Egy férfi.)

The lyric I and what he put in brackets (English)

Now only the weather report
from the papers.
(The sports news not even back then.)

He asks for a glass of water.
By now everything
has only aftertaste.
No need for that either.

He looks in the mirror,
be it said, from an angle, from which
he cannot see himself.

A less than pertinent existence.
He will not end it
- after all, it has ended.

(By the way, one can see a towel
half of another towel, a nickel-plated rod
and the edge of a water heater in the mirror.

A woman whom he loves
is working on a computer
in the adjoining room.

In the evening, it is likely,
or rather, almost certain,
that they will go somewhere
and have one (or more) somethings.

He and she,
that is to say: they.
A woman. A man.)
