Gyémánt (Hungarian)

Mindenkor idejük van a zsoltároknak.
Gyémánthegyen állunk,
De zsebünkben kavicsok vannak.
Nagyon elfelejtettük, hogy angyalok voltunk,
Kövér vánkosokba tömtük fehér szárnyaink.
Most könyörgések szomjazzák erőnket
És térdünk alatt lyukassá kopnának a kövek,
Szívünkben a csillag megfagyott.

Igen. Igen.
Elsüllyedtek a haditengerészek:
Szelid révészek csónakáznak Isten felé.
Még a nagyon öregek is
Kiülnek a dolgok előtti egyszerű lócára
S türelmet prédikálnak messze,
A mulandóság halainak.
Igen, igen.

Ne higyjük el hát barátaim,
Hogy lapdák helyett ökleinkkel lapdáztunk!
Mindent meg kell simogatni,
A hiénákat, a békákat is.

Gyémánthegyen állunk,
Szigorú hó, takard el bűneinket,
Oldozd föl nyelvünket, mennyei világosság!
Te határtalan kristály!

Diamond (English)

All times are good for psalms.
We stand on a diamond hill,
but our pockets are full of pebbles.
We’ve long forgotten we were angels,
we stuffed thick pillows with our wings.
Now prayers thirst for our strength
and our knees would wear holes in the stones,
the star in our hearts has frozen.

Yes. Yes. So it is.
Naval units have submerged:
gentle ferrymen row towards God.
Even the very old will
sit out on the bench before work
and preach patience to faraway
fish of evanescence.
Yes, yes. So it is.

Let’s not believe then my dear friends
that instead of balls we played with our fists!
Everything must be fondled,
even hyenas and frogs.

We stand on diamond hills,
rigorous snow - hide our sins,
set our tongues free, heavenly light!
You boundless crystal bright!
